For a large part of the opposition spectrum, their own ambitions are more important than defeating the regime, – one of the leaders of the National Movement, Ana Tsitlidze, stated on Palitranews.
According to her, during the pre-election period, the opposition did not try to make Ivanishvili the focus, their focus was the National Movement.
“The main problem of a large part of the opposition spectrum is that in this struggle they love themselves more than the struggle. Their own ambitions are more important to them than defeating the regime. During the pre-election period, the opposition did not try to make Ivanishvili the focus, their focus was the National Movement. Before Levan Khabeishvili was arrested, when the October 4 process began, I also had many questions about October 4. Levan Khabeishvili met with all the people from the opposition spectrum, at least the majority, in person, including Paata Burchuladze who had personal communication with these people regarding October 4. There was no problem with the answers to the questions to be given in a closed format. This communication could not take place, because everyone has their own ambitions,” Tsitlidze noted, in response to the question: “Maybe they did not receive a convincing answer”. Tsitlidze explained that “there will never be a convincing answer if the ambition is greater than the fight against the regime.”
“There will never be a convincing answer if you look at all this in such a way that the main thing is that you be the first, that you have the status of the main oppositionist and that you float under the regime for a long time. With very rare exceptions, do you know what oppositionists are like?! They live in penthouses, have income, from family, from old businesses or so on, they are fine. In 2018, one of the oppositionists told me, why are you killing yourself, let Bidzina be the one and eventually something will happen to him, he will die and we will wait for that change,” – Tsitlidze noted.
Speaking about the rally planned for October 4, she noted that a turning point has occurred and if you ask citizens what they expect on October 4, they will talk about revolution.
“I am often asked, if it doesn’t happen on October 4, what will you do on October 5? I will continue the struggle on October 5, if it doesn’t happen on October 4. If it happens on October 4, we have a chance, considering many important factors… Today, when I walk down the street and people stop me, they ask me, ‘Is there going to be a revolution on October 4? We are coming out for the revolution.’ I remember a period when they were so complex about the word ‘revolution’ that not only Georgian citizens, but even politicians, opposition politicians could not repeat this word. A turning point has occurred, when everyone on Rustaveli Avenue is shouting revolution, if you stop citizens and ask them what they are waiting for on October 4, they will talk about revolution. This turning point has occurred. It is not right to focus on the fact that we have not done anything for 13 years, so this day may not come,” Tsitlidze noted.
According to Ana Tsitlidze, if after October 4 they ban all political parties, then they will go to the civil sector and destroy it.
“If the Russian special operation on October 4 succeeds, what Ivanishvili is planning to do after October 4 has been announced. Yesterday Tsulukiani also informed us that they will ban all political parties, then they will destroy the civil sector, then they will “take care” of the free media, then they will go to every citizen who thinks differently. Ivanishvili will isolate Georgia. Even if nothing is planned for October 4, he will still do it after the special operation. He has such a plan even without this,” Tsitlidze noted.
