Not even the State Security Service, but even if Bidzina Ivanishvili brings aliens on October 4, no one will be able to confront the thousands of Georgian citizens standing in the streets. The power of righteous people is something an oligarch will always lose against, said Ana Tsitlidze, one of the leaders of the “National Movement,” in a statement to journalists.
As she noted, if anyone has been engaging in violence in this country for 13 years, it is the regime.
“We have seen the so-called government’s illegal actions against Georgian citizens, how they beat, torture, and kill people. We have seen the special forces that nearly killed Levan Khabeishvili. The story of Guka Rogava’s injury, whom God saved. You probably remember well the young man who was beaten on the head while down, also saved by God. The so-called government, in reality, Ivanishvili’s criminal gang, has gone beyond the constitutional framework. It has no legitimacy, neither on the international stage nor among Georgian citizens. It is distinguished by its brutality against Georgia’s citizens; it has brutally beaten and nearly killed around 500 Georgian citizens. Not a single special forces member has been punished to this day. Georgian citizens plan to stand peacefully on October 4 and end the regime, coming to the rally with their children and family members. The so-called government and special forces must know that Georgian citizens have the constitutional right to self-defense and will protect themselves. We will not allow the regime to oppress even a single Georgian citizen. The 4,000 employees of the State Security Service, who have no motivation whatsoever – especially after the turmoil within ‘Georgian Dream’ – will not be able to overpower thousands of Georgian citizens if they dare to raise a hand against them.
Every rally, including the December rallies and those during the ‘Russian law,’ was peaceful, when Georgian citizens were brutally beaten. Levan Khabeishvili was kidnapped and brutally beaten while standing peacefully, trying to save a young man who was illegally detained. Davit Katsarava was standing peacefully and protesting. Guka Rogava was live on air, standing peacefully, when a State Security Service special forces member attacked and nearly killed him. This is the regime’s practice – brutally attacking peaceful citizens. I repeat once again: if they decide to confront Georgian citizens and treat them as brutally as the regime has done at every rally, they must know that Georgian citizens have the constitutional right to defend themselves. In this country, the only one engaging in violence for 13 years is the regime, which lacks legitimacy among Georgian citizens, yet it thinks it can suppress peaceful protests with such violence. Not even the State Security Service, but even if Bidzina Ivanishvili brings aliens on October 4, no one will be able to confront the thousands of Georgian citizens standing in the streets. The power of righteous people is something an oligarch will always lose against,” Ana Tsitlidze stated.
