**Georgian Journalist’s Life Under Threat, Says Association**

The Georgian Young Lawyers’ Association (GYLA) has expressed concerns about the life of journalist Mzia Amaglobeli. The association says that Amaglobeli’s activities are being targeted by the authorities for political reasons.

Amaglobeli was arrested on January 12 and is currently in pre-trial detention. Her lawyers have appealed against her arrest, but their appeal was rejected by a higher court. Amaglobeli has been on hunger strike since January 20 to protest her detention.

**Call for Action**

GYLA is calling on the authorities to take immediate action to ensure Amaglobeli’s health and safety are monitored. The association also wants the prosecutor’s office to close the case against Amaglobeli, as they believe she has not committed a crime.

Additionally, GYLA is asking the Special Investigation Service (SIS) to inform the public about the status of the case against Amaglobeli for allegedly degrading treatment.

**Public Pressure**

Protests and demands for Amaglobeli’s release have been growing. Journalists and activists are calling for justice in her case.

Amaglobeli’s colleagues, including Eter Turadze, editor of Batumelebi, have tried to contact high-ranking officials, such as Shalva Papuashvili, chairman of the Georgian Dream Parliament, but were unsuccessful.
