**Tabloids Under Fire for Orchestrated Attack on University Rector**
A dramatic scene unfolded in Belgrade, Serbia, as University of Belgrade Rector Vladan Djokic left the Criminal Police Department (CPD) after being summoned for questioning. Just minutes later, a pro-regime tabloid, Informer, published what it claimed was an official police memo of his statement. But questions are being raised about how the tabloid obtained the memo and whether the whole thing was staged.
According to the alleged memo, which was reviewed by N1, Rector Djokic’s questioning began at 9 am on Thursday, April 17, 2025, and ended at 11:15 am. However, this raises suspicions because the document is dated a day before the interview actually took place. Furthermore, it’s stated that the rector did not request a copy of the memo.
The memo itself appears to be a genuine document, but its publication by Informer has sparked concerns about how it was obtained. The tabloid’s editor-in-chief, Dragan J. Vucicevic, claimed that the memo came from Rector Djokic’s lawyer, but this seems unlikely. The fact that Informer published both the story and a photo of the supposed police memo on its website, just minutes after the rector left the CPD, raises serious questions about the timing and purpose of the publication.
Another curious coincidence is that an earlier tabloid, Alo, published a list of questions that police would allegedly ask Rector Djokic. Just minutes later, Informer posted a short article with the same content. This has led many to speculate that the whole thing was orchestrated by the tabloids to create a negative narrative about the rector.
The alleged statement attributed to Rector Djokic in Informer’s report claims that he “shifted the blame onto students instead of taking responsibility, saying they were the ones responsible for the illegal blockades of university faculties.” However, this statement is contradicted by an analysis of the alleged police memo reviewed by N1.
This incident has highlighted the dangers of tabloid journalism and the potential for manipulation of information. It also raises concerns about the role of the media in shaping public opinion and the impact on individuals who are subject to such attacks.
