This is trickery, what Kavelashvili and “Georgian Dream” came up with, as if to “disgrace us” – in the elections we must crush and defeat “Georgian Dream,” now with even greater determination, – said Aleko Elisashvili, one of the leaders of “Lelo – Strong Georgia,” near Rustavi prison.
According to him, both the arrest and the pardon of the party leaders – Mamuka Khazaradze and Badri Japaridze – were political.
“The arrest and the release, the so-called pardon, were political matters from beginning to end. Politically they decided to arrest them, and then politically they decided to release them. This is trickery, what Kavelashvili and ‘Georgian Dream’ came up with, supposedly to disgrace us, to say: ‘Look at them, since they’re participating in the elections, this and that.’ This is trickery, pretending to disgrace us. Mamuka and Badri are out, and we will fight with even greater determination to ensure that all political prisoners are freed and that Georgia is liberated from these treacherous scoundrels. In the elections, we must crush and defeat this ‘Georgian Dream,’ now with even greater determination,” – Elisashvili said.
For reference, Mikheil Kavelashvili pardoned the leaders of the party “Strong Georgia – Lelo,” Mamuka Khazaradze and Badri Japaridze. According to Kavelashvili’s statement, “Despite various circumstances, the President made this decision so that no one would have even the pretext to say that the local self-government elections are being held under conditions of limited competitiveness.”
