In the town of Sagarejo, Georgia, police are still investigating the circumstances surrounding the attempted suicide of former Chairman of Adjara Government, Tornike Rizhvadze. According to reports, Rizhvadze was shot in the chest and is currently receiving treatment at a hospital in Tbilisi.
At the home of Aleko Akhvlediani, where Rizhvadze allegedly attempted to take his own life, forensic experts and criminalists are carrying out investigative actions. Deputy Head of Sagarejo Police Department, Jaba Bitarishvili, was present at the scene but refused to answer questions from journalists.

When questioned by media representatives near Akhvlediani’s residence, Deputy Head of Sagarejo Police Department, Jaba Bitarishvili, stated that he could not provide any additional details about the investigation. He revealed that forensic experts were working at the scene and that investigative procedures were underway.
“The investigation has been launched under Articles 115 and 238 of the Criminal Code,” Bitarishvili said. “One individual has been detained, and investigative actions are ongoing. I can’t say more than that.”

Tornike Rizhvadze, the former Chairman of Adjara Government, was admitted to hospital in Sagarejo earlier this morning with a gunshot wound to the chest. He received emergency medical care and was later transferred to the First University Clinic in Tbilisi.
In connection with Rizhvadze’s case, Aleko Akhvlediani has been detained as a suspect for negligent storage of a firearm.
