According to the National Statistics Office, in January–August 2025, Georgia’s foreign trade in goods (excluding undeclared trade) amounted to 16,250.8 million USD, which is 8.8% higher compared to the same period of the previous year. Of this, exports totaled 4,448.2 million USD (an increase of 6.7%), while imports reached 11,802.7 million USD (an increase of 9.7%).
According to Geostat, Georgia’s negative trade balance in January–August 2025 amounted to 7,354.5 million USD, which is 45.3% of the foreign trade turnover.
“In January–August 2025, the share of the ten largest export partner countries accounted for 79.8% of Georgia’s total exports. The top three export partners were: Kyrgyzstan (943.1 million USD), Kazakhstan (572.9 million USD), and Russia (480.7 million USD).
In January–August 2025, the share of the ten largest trade partner countries accounted for 68.7% of Georgia’s total foreign trade turnover. The country’s largest trade partners were: Turkey (1,989.7 million USD), the USA (1,863.5 million USD), and Russia (1,705.5 million USD).
Among commodity groups in January–August 2025, the top export item was passenger cars, totaling 1,728.3 million USD, which accounted for 38.9% of total exports. In second place were ores and concentrates of precious metals at 239.1 million USD (5.4% of total exports), followed by alcoholic beverages at 172.0 million USD (3.9%).
The largest import commodity group in January–August 2025 was also passenger cars, with imports totaling 2,422.6 million USD, accounting for 20.5% of total imports. In second place were petroleum and petroleum products at 846.1 million USD (7.2% of imports), followed by pictures, paintings, and pastels (handmade) at 481.4 million USD (4.1% of imports),” according to information released by Geostat.
