**European Values Undermined in Georgia**

The Georgian Parliament Speaker, Shalva Papuashvili, has spoken out against what he sees as the erosion of European values in his country. He is criticizing certain political groups for promoting a government that would do whatever they are told by external forces.

Papuashvili was responding to comments made by Rasa Juknevičienė, a fellow politician who spoke with a Russian accent and wagged her finger at the Georgian people. She warned them that if they didn’t behave in line with what “the center” wants, they would be punished. Papuashvili sees this as an example of how absurd Euro-bureaucracy has become.

**A Government for Sale**

According to Papuashvili, some political groups are willing to do whatever it takes to change the government and bring in puppets who will follow external instructions. He argues that this is not what the Georgian people want, but rather a government that would act according to its own values and principles.

Papuashvili pointed out that during the election campaign, certain groups promised the Georgian people a government that would do whatever they were told to do. This included standing on one leg at the behest of MEPs or imposing sanctions on Russia without consulting the Georgian people.

**A Value Crisis in Brussels**

Papuashvili believes that the real problem lies not with his country, but rather with the European Parliament itself. He argues that the behavior towards the Georgian people is nowhere close to European values and that Brussels must return to its true European roots.

He pointed out that during the time of Mikheil Saakashvili’s regime, investigative committee hearings were held in Georgia where the tragedies that occurred during his rule were recalled. However, when Rasa Juknevičienė was a minister in Lithuania, she faced no criticism from the Baltic governments, despite their current vocal opposition to her imprisonment.

**The Influence of External Forces**

Papuashvili also touched on the issue of external influence on European politics. He mentioned that FARA (the Foreign Agents Registration Act) had revealed that American lobbyists were writing drafts of European Parliament resolutions. This, he believes, is a symptom of a deeper value crisis in Brussels.

**A Call to Return to True European Values**

Papuashvili’s message was clear: the Georgian people want a government that will act according to its own values and principles, rather than one that will follow external instructions. He called on the European Parliament to return to its true European roots and to prioritize the values of democracy, transparency, and accountability.
