**Explosion Rocks Crimean Bridge, Kremlin Claims No Damage**
A massive explosion shook the Crimean Bridge in the early hours of June 3, causing significant damage to its underwater supports. However, Russian officials are claiming that the bridge remains fully operational and that no damage was done.
According to the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), more than a ton of explosives equivalent to TNT damaged the critical supply route, which connects Crimea to Russia’s Krasnodar Krai via the Kerch Strait. The SBU claimed responsibility for the attack, saying it was a coordinated effort by Ukrainian intelligence agents.
Despite the damage, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said that the bridge continues to function normally and that there is no reason to panic. He accused Ukraine of attempting to disrupt Russia’s infrastructure, claiming that Kyiv has been trying to target critical facilities.
However, this latest attack is not the first time Ukraine has targeted the Crimean Bridge. In October 2022 and July 2023, Ukrainian forces successfully damaged the bridge during two separate attacks. While these attacks did not manage to take the bridge out of commission, they demonstrate a pattern of Ukrainian resistance against Russia’s occupation of Crimea.

“This operation was personally supervised by our chief, Vasyl Maliuk,” said Dmytro Pletenchuk, a spokesperson for the Ukrainian Navy. “The key and most complex part of the bridge had been damaged in the attack.”
