**Trilateral Meeting Between Zelensky, Trump, and Putin Unlikely in the Near Future**
A meeting between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, U.S. President Donald Trump, and Russian President Vladimir Putin is unlikely to happen soon, according to Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov.
The statement comes after a day of uncertainty from the White House, where officials said that Trump would not rule out participating in talks with the two leaders. However, it seems that these plans have been put on hold for now.
Peskov explained that while Putin has expressed his readiness for a high-level meeting, it is unlikely to happen soon without prior agreements reached at lower levels. This suggests that there are still significant issues to be resolved before such a meeting can take place.
**Background: A History of Unfulfilled Promises**
This development comes as no surprise given the history of unfulfilled promises from Russia regarding talks with Ukraine. Putin had previously said he was ready to meet with Zelensky, but when invited to hold high-level talks in Turkey on May 16, he did not attend.
Instead, lower-level talks were held between Russian and Ukrainian delegations in Istanbul on June 2, which resulted in a prisoner exchange agreement and the repatriation of 6,000 bodies of fallen Ukrainian soldiers. However, Russia refused to agree to a ceasefire and also declined an invitation for a meeting between Putin and Zelensky.
**What’s Next?**
It remains to be seen when or if a trilateral meeting will take place. In the meantime, Ukraine and Russia are likely to continue their negotiations at lower levels, with the hope of making progress on key issues such as the conflict in eastern Ukraine and border control agreements.
