**Russian Drone Attacks Injure 12 Emergency Workers in Ukraine’s Zaporizhzhia Oblast**
A devastating Russian drone attack on June 2 left 12 emergency workers injured, including one who is in a critical state, in the front-line areas of Ukraine’s Zaporizhzhia Oblast. The attacks were carried out against a State Emergency Service building and service vehicles in the Stepnohirsk community, according to Governor Ivan Fedorov.
The Russian forces struck again as emergency workers were evacuating the injured, leading to further casualties among first responders. This is not an isolated incident – Russia has repeatedly employed “double-tap attacks” against civilian targets, often resulting in harm to those who are supposed to be helping others.
**Deliberate Attacks on First Responders**
The State Emergency Service building and fire trucks were directly hit by the Russian drones, causing significant damage. One of the victims is in a critical state, while others have suffered moderate injuries. The fact that emergency workers were injured despite being in a shelter during the attack raises concerns about the deliberate targeting of first responders.
“This is another example of deliberate and targeted Russian attacks on first responders — people who save the lives of others every day, risking their own,” said the State Emergency Service on Telegram.
**Stepnohirsk Under Fire**
The Stepnohirsk community lies just 5 kilometers north of the front line in Ukraine’s Zaporizhzhia Oblast. The area has been under attack by Russian forces for some time now, and emergency workers have been risking their lives to save others.
The incident highlights the need for international pressure on Russia to cease its attacks on civilian targets and first responders. The world must come together to condemn such actions and support Ukraine in this difficult time.
