**Georgian Currency Marks 30 Years Since Introduction**

That’s even before many other countries had their own currencies. Eight hundred years ago, money issued by Queen Tamar became very popular in the region. And two hundred sixty years ago, King Erekle’s currency was the most reliable way to trade goods.
The Georgian lari is a direct continuation of these traditions. It’s been used for 30 years and has become an important part of Georgia’s identity. The prime minister said that it serves the interests of the country and its people.
