**EU Official Expresses Support for Georgia’s Independence Day**
Yesterday, a significant event took place on Rustaveli Avenue in Tbilisi, as MEP Rasa Juknevičienė delivered a powerful speech to commemorate Georgia’s Independence Day. The Lithuanian politician drew attention to the Georgian people’s bravery and struggle for European integration.
**A Fight for Europe**
Juknevičienė emphasized that Georgians are heroes, not just in their own eyes but also in the eyes of many Europeans. She noted that the fight against Russia’s colonial empire is a common cause shared by several Eastern European countries, including Lithuania, Ukraine, and Moldova. The MEP stated that dictators often fear their own people, and that Russian President Vladimir Putin fears his own citizens the most.
**Fear of Debidzination**
The Lithuanian politician also touched on the issue of fear in Georgia’s ruling regime. She stated that there is one person who is afraid of “debidzination” (a term often associated with Bidzina Ivanishvili, a wealthy businessman and former prime minister). Juknevičienė argued that this phenomenon is inevitable because it is incompatible with Georgia’s European future.
**Support for the Georgian People**
The MEP expressed solidarity with the detained fighters, including Mzia Amaghlobeli, Zurab Japaridze, and President Mikheil Saakashvili. She also acknowledged Ukraine’s bravery in defending all of Europe with its blood. Juknevičienė ended her speech by emphasizing her faith in a united democratic Europe and the brave Georgian people.
