Zelensky has stated that Ukraine is ready to meet with Putin and Trump in various formats, including a three-way meeting and separate meetings with each leader. This shows that Ukraine is committed to finding a peaceful solution to the conflict.
However, despite Zelensky’s efforts, Moscow continues to reject calls for a ceasefire and has intensified its attacks on Ukrainian cities while preparing a new offensive this summer. It remains unclear what specific agreements the Kremlin requires to arrange the meeting.

This is not the first time that Ukraine and Russia have attempted to hold peace talks. In 2019, Zelensky and Putin met during the Normandy Format talks in France. However, these talks did not yield any significant breakthroughs apart from a major prisoner exchange.
Ukraine has also invited Putin for face-to-face talks in Istanbul on May 16, but he refused to attend himself, instead sending a delegation of junior aides.
