**Georgian Citizen Released from Russian Detention**
A Georgian citizen, Giorgi Bolotashvili, who was held in illegal detention by Russian occupation forces, has been released and is now back on Tbilisi-controlled territory. This comes after a joint effort between the State Security Service of Georgia (SSSG) and the European Union Monitoring Mission (EUMM).
According to reports from the SSSG, Bolotashvili was detained near the village of Khurvaleti in the Gori Municipality on May 20. At that time, three Georgian citizens were reported to be held in illegal custody by Russian forces. One of them was released shortly after, but Giorgi Bolotashvili remained in detention until his release.
**Using EU Mechanism for Release**
The release process involved the use of the operational hotline mechanism provided by the EUMM. The SSSG stated that this mechanism, along with other available instruments, played a crucial role in securing Bolotashvili’s freedom. This development comes as part of the central government’s efforts to free all Georgian citizens held illegally in occupied territories.
**Ongoing Efforts for Detained Citizens**
The release of Giorgi Bolotashvili marks another success in the ongoing efforts by the Georgian government and international organizations to secure the freedom of detained citizens. While one individual remains in illegal custody, the central government continues to work actively towards their release as well.
