**PM Criticizes Embassies Over Shameful Statements on Zura Japaridze**
In a recent press conference, the Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Kobakhidze, expressed his disappointment and frustration with the statements made by several embassies regarding the detention of opposition leader Zura Japaridze. This is not the first time that diplomatic corps have come under fire for their comments on sensitive issues in Georgia.
According to the Prime Minister, the statements made by these embassies show a clear lack of understanding and respect for the rule of law in Georgia. He pointed out that just three years ago, the Strasbourg Court ruled that the state had acted in full compliance with human rights principles during the detention of opposition leader Nino Burjanadze’s colleague, Mamuka Melia.
**”Deep State” at Play?**
The Prime Minister suggested that these statements are indicative of a “deep state” at play, where embassies and governments are not in control, but rather, some unseen forces are manipulating the situation. This is a very sad reality, he said, which is visible not just in Georgia, but also in Europe.
**No Apologies for Shameful Statements**
The Prime Minister noted that despite the Strasbourg Court’s ruling, no embassies or governments apologized for their shameful statements regarding Melia’s detention. Instead, they are repeating similar comments on Japaridze’s case. This lack of accountability and contrition is unacceptable, he said.
**A Reality Check Needed**
In conclusion, the Prime Minister called for a public evaluation of these statements and actions by embassies and governments. It’s time to take a hard look at what’s really going on behind the scenes and hold those responsible accountable. The people of Georgia deserve better, and it’s high time for some serious changes.
