**US President Trump Confronts Reality of Russia’s Aggression in Ukraine**
In a stark turn of events, French President Emmanuel Macron has revealed that US President Donald Trump now understands that Russian President Vladimir Putin misled him about being ready for peace talks with Ukraine. This shocking admission comes as Russia continues to escalate its attacks on the Eastern European country.
According to Macron, who spoke to the French TV channel BFM, Trump has come to realize that Putin’s claims of wanting peace were nothing more than a ruse. “I think President Trump realizes that when President Putin told him he was ready for peace, he lied to him,” Macron said during a visit to Hanoi.
**Russia’s Brutal Assault on Ukraine**
The brutal assault on Ukraine by Russia has been ongoing since May 24, with over 600 drones and dozens of missiles being fired across the country. In a particularly devastating attack overnight on May 26, Russia launched nine Kh-101 cruise missiles from Tu-95MS bombers and a record 355 Shahed-type drones and decoys.
Ukrainian authorities have condemned the attacks as unacceptable and extremely serious, with President Volodymyr Zelensky calling for stronger sanctions and criticizing the US for its lack of response. “America’s silence… only encourages Putin,” Zelensky said in a statement.
**Trump Criticizes Both Sides**
Despite acknowledging Russia’s escalatory behavior, Trump has also come under fire from his own critics for his approach to negotiations with Putin. Trump expressed strong disapproval of the latest escalation and called out Putin for wanting all of Ukraine, but he also criticized Zelensky for causing problems with his words.
“It better stop,” Trump posted on Truth Social. However, many European allies have taken issue with Trump’s approach, which they see as weak and ineffective in confronting Russia’s aggression.
**US Fails to Impose New Sanctions**
Despite the mounting pressure from lawmakers and other world leaders, the US has yet to impose new sanctions against Russia for its actions in Ukraine. Republican lawmakers have echoed calls for punitive actions against Moscow, but so far, none have been implemented.
