**Russian Chemical Plant Attacked by Ukrainian Drones**
In a recent strike, Ukrainian drones targeted a chemical plant in Russia’s Ivanovo Oblast. According to reports from Astra news resource, at least two drones hit the supply warehouse of the Dmitrievsky Chemical Plant on May 26.
The attack was notable for its distance from Ukraine’s state border, with the plant located approximately 800 kilometers away. Local residents reported hearing loud rumbling and unusual sounds in the sky during the incident. The Ivanovo oblast’s operational headquarters confirmed that drone debris was found at the enterprise’s industrial zone.
The Dmitrievsky Chemical Plant is one of Russia’s largest producers of chemical and petrochemical products for civilian markets. However, it also supplies Russia’s defense industrial complex, including gunpowder and explosives manufacturers like the Kazan State Gunpowder Plant.
**Importance of the Target**
The facility has 14 contracts worth over $652,000, primarily involving selling chemicals necessary for producing gunpowder and explosives for defense needs. The plant also provides products to the Kamensky Combine, which includes industrial explosives like TNT and HMX, as well as chemical components for ammunition and special dual-use chemical substances.
**Previous Attacks**
This is not the first time Ukrainian Defense Forces have targeted the Dmitrievsky Chemical Plant. They previously struck the facility in December 2024. Earlier reports also indicated that Ukrainian strike drones hit the Azot chemical enterprise in Novomoskovsk, Tula Oblast.
**Significance of the Attack**
The attack on the Dmitrievsky Chemical Plant highlights Ukraine’s efforts to disrupt Russia’s defense capabilities and supply chain. By targeting key facilities like this plant, Ukraine aims to hinder Russia’s ability to produce essential materials for its military needs.
