**Ukraine Seeks EU’s Long-Term Defense Funding, Proposes Integration into European Security System**

For the EU, Marchenko said that providing long-term defense funding to Ukraine would offer protection from potential Russian aggression. “The Ukrainian army has all the experience necessary for this,” he stated. This integration into Europe’s defense system could also help meet NATO’s defense spending targets.

Ukraine has received over $133 billion in international financial aid over the past three years, which has helped preserve macro-financial stability during full-scale war and ensured salary payments to teachers, doctors, and public servants. Marchenko emphasized that continued external support is crucial for Ukraine’s financial system.
**Russia’s Refusal of Ceasefire**
Ukraine’s proposal comes at a time when Russia continues to refuse a ceasefire in Ukraine. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov recently reiterated Moscow’s demands for Kyiv to cede Crimea and four eastern regions, further underscoring the need for alternative defense strategies.
