**Ukraine Recovers 909 Bodies of Fallen Defenders in Exchange with Russia**

These brave individuals fought in some of the most intense areas of conflict, including Kurakhivskyi, Pokrovskyi, Bakhmutskyi, Vuhledarskyi, Luhansk, Zaporizhzhia, Sumy, and Kharkiv. Additionally, bodies that were being held in morgues on Russian soil have also been returned to their families.
**Coordinated Efforts Led to Successful Exchange**
The successful return of these 909 bodies is a testament to the effective coordination between various Ukrainian agencies, including the Coordination Headquarters for Prisoner of War Affairs, the Joint Center under the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), and others. This joint effort enabled them to overcome Russia’s systematic delays in exchanging the bodies.

This is not an isolated incident; Ukraine has been regularly conducting exchanges of fallen soldiers’ bodies with Russia. Just a few months ago, in mid-April, Ukraine returned 909 fallen defenders. In fact, on March 28, another exchange took place, where 909 bodies were repatriated to Ukraine.

Interestingly, according to data from early March, the Russian side has been handing over twice as many bodies of Ukrainian defenders in recent months compared to the entire period prior to that. This shift may indicate a slight improvement in Russia’s willingness to engage in exchanges, albeit still with considerable delay.
