**Most Ukrainians Oppose Holding Elections Before Peace Deal**

This figure has increased by 6% since March, but still represents a minority of those surveyed. In contrast, the number of people who think elections should only take place once the war is completely over has decreased from 78% to 71%. The survey suggests that many Ukrainians are prioritizing the country’s stability and peace over the need for new elections.
The results are significant because they reflect a shift in public opinion. In the past, there were strong calls for early elections, but now most people want to focus on ending the conflict first. This is despite efforts by Russian propaganda to create a narrative that Zelensky is no longer a legitimate president due to his extended term.

Constitutional lawyers have said this is allowed under Ukrainian law, but Russia continues to push its narrative. The poll suggests that most Ukrainians do not buy into this story and see Zelensky as a legitimate leader who should remain in power until peace is achieved.

Ukraine’s parliament has already passed a resolution stating that elections will only take place once “a comprehensive, just, and sustainable peace” is secured. This shows that the government is committed to prioritizing national stability over short-term political gain.
