**Georgian Leader Questions US Silence on Country’s Relations with Biden Administration**
In a bold move, the leader of Georgia’s parliamentary majority, Mamuka Mdinaradze, has spoken out about the country’s relations with the newly elected US president and administration. Despite the coincidence in tone and messaging between the Georgian government and the Biden administration, not a single word has been said about Georgia by the US leaders.
Mdinaradze emphasized that it is “very good” that Georgia can speak with such boldness and confidence today. However, he noted that this coincidence in positions between the two governments raises questions about why no statement of support has been made towards Georgia by the US administration.
**The Silent Treatment from Washington**
According to Mdinaradze, there are reasons for this silence, which must be explained by the country’s leaders who still have Biden’s decisions in force. These decisions, made as a result of his administration’s criminal attitude towards Georgia and its elected government representatives, must be addressed. Until then, the world will ask: why hasn’t the US administration spoken out in support of Georgia despite their shared positions?
**The MEGOBAR Act: A Moss for the Opposition?**
Mdinaradze also touched on the issue of the MEGOBAR Act, which he believes is a moss (a plant that grows on another plant) for the Georgian opposition. The new administration’s efforts to fight the “deep state” are being undermined by this act, which would have the opposite effect if put into action.
The silence from the US side has created uncertainty, not only in Georgia but also in the world, about the effectiveness of the Biden administration’s efforts against the “deep state”. Mdinaradze emphasized that Georgia is not begging for anything, but rather speaking out boldly and confidently about its relations with its own society and partners.
**Open Letter to the US President**
Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze had previously sent an open letter to President Donald Trump and Vice President J.D. Vance regarding Georgian-American relations several weeks ago, but has yet to receive a response. In his letter, Kobakhidze discussed the sanctions imposed on Georgian government officials and expressed perplexity that the US administration is harshly criticizing Biden’s decisions without reversing any of them.
Kobakhidze also highlighted the striking alignment of values between the Georgian government and the US administration, as well as his hopes for the US administration to defeat the “deep state” which would undoubtedly affect the reset of Georgian-American relations and the restoration of strategic partnership.
