**Serbian Student Runners Receive Warm Welcome in Austria**
A group of Serbian students who are running a relay marathon from Novi Sad to Brussels were met with a large and enthusiastic crowd in the Austrian city of Graz on Monday evening. The students, who are participating in the “From My Village to Brussels” run, had completed their 4th day of running and had covered an impressive 474 kilometers.
The run began in Novi Sad, but it’s not just about reaching Brussels. It’s a protest against police brutality that erupted on Monday when students were beaten by police in Novi Sad. The students, who are running with a message of peace and solidarity, told reporters that they support their fellow students who were injured in the incident.
**A Show of Support**
In Graz, the student runners received a warm welcome from the local community. A large crowd gathered to watch them arrive, and the students took time to chant and sing before a choir led the crowd in song. The atmosphere was lively, with people cheering and clapping for the runners.
The students were also given flowers and badges by the locals, which they proudly wore as they continued their journey. One of the girls in the group even carried a teddy bear dressed in a police uniform, which had been gifted to them by one of the policemen escorting them through Slovenia. The bear, named Leon, was said to be there to “keep them safe” on their journey.
**A Commemoration**
The crowd also gathered to commemorate the 16 people who lost their lives in the collapse of a concrete awning at Novi Sad Railway Station, which sparked months of protests. To mark this somber occasion, candles were set up to form the number 16, serving as a poignant reminder of the tragic event that had brought the students together.
