**US-Europe Meeting on Ukraine Peace Deal Postponed Amid Disagreements**
A meeting of top officials from the US, Europe, and Ukraine to discuss a peace deal for Ukraine has been postponed. The decision was made after it became clear that there was not enough agreement among the parties involved.
The meeting was supposed to take place in London, with representatives from the UK, France, Germany, and the US attending. However, due to disagreements on key points of the US peace plan, most participants decided to skip the event.
Russia has been engaged in a conflict with Ukraine since 2014, and there have been ongoing efforts to find a peaceful solution. The US has presented its own peace proposal, which includes significant concessions from Ukraine.
However, this proposal has not been well-received by all parties involved. Ukrainian officials have stated that they will not accept a peace agreement that would give Russia the opportunity to regroup for further attacks. Instead, they are pushing for a full ceasefire to be implemented first.
The Kremlin spokesperson, Dmitry Peskov, said on April 23 that there was still no consensus among the parties on some issues. He also stated that Russia continues to engage with the US on possible settlement of the war in Ukraine but not with Kyiv and Europe.
**US Peace Proposal Under Scrutiny**
The US peace proposal has been widely criticized for its perceived concessions to Russia. The plan would see the US de facto accept Russia’s control over occupied Crimea and parts of eastern Ukraine. It also requires Ukraine to give up its aspirations to join NATO.
Ukrainian officials have expressed their opposition to this proposal, stating that it does not provide sufficient guarantees against further Russian aggression.
In light of these disagreements, the meeting in London has been downgraded from a high-level diplomatic event to a lower-level gathering. Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha has stated that Ukraine will continue to engage with its international partners on finding a peaceful solution to the conflict.
**Other Developments**
Russian air defenses intercepted drones in the Alabuga Special Economic Zone, near a Shahed-type drone factory, according to independent news channel Astra. The White House also disbanded the Justice Department’s War Crimes Accountability Team and dismantled a program to seize assets of sanctioned Russian oligarchs.
In Ukraine, a Russian drone attack on the town of Marhanets killed at least nine people and injured 30. Regional authorities reported that Russian attacks across Ukrainian regions had killed at least four civilians and injured 88 over the past day.
The US has stated that it is not opposed to a European peacekeeping force in Ukraine but does not call for reducing Ukraine’s military capabilities.
