**Judges Go on Strike in Serbia**
On Tuesday, March 18, judges and employees in the Serbian judiciary walked out of their jobs. They stopped working for the whole day.
The strike was called by the Judicial Authority Union. The union said all staff in courts, public prosecutors’ offices, and criminal enforcement institutes would join the protest.
**Judge Ordered to Reduce Salaries**
Appeals Court Judge Miodrag Majic shared a document on social media. It showed instructions from Zorana Delibasic, president of Serbia’s High Council of the Judiciary. She told court presidents to list all strikers and reduce their salaries.
The memo stated that if the strike was done correctly, according to the Law on Strike, participants would not face disciplinary actions. They could still keep their jobs, but they would have to work without pay.
**Judge Reacts**
Judge Majic made a comment about the situation. He said it was good that the president of the High Council of the Judiciary was speaking out against the strike. But he questioned why she was now asking court presidents to list strikers and reduce their salaries. He thought this was strange behavior from someone who had stayed silent during difficult times for the judiciary.
