**Government Freezes Funds to Stop Protests**
The government of Georgia has frozen the accounts of several funds, including “Nanuka’s Fund.” This move is seen as an attempt to stop people from protesting. But the people are not giving up.
Paata Manjgaladze, the Secretary-General of “Strategy Agmashenebeli,” says that the funds were used for both good and bad things. They helped provide first aid to people in Guria after a natural disaster, but they also supported protests against the government.
**Repressive Methods Won’t Work**
The government has been using repressive methods to stop the protests. They have fined people 5000 GEL (around $1700 USD), monitored their homes, and even threatened them. But people are still protesting because they want change.
Paata Manjgaladze says that the funds were used to pay fines for those who were arrested during protests. This is a clever way for the government to try and stop the protests, but it won’t work. The law doesn’t say that you have to pay your own fine if someone else can pay it for you.
**Government’s Desperation**
The government is desperate to stop the protests. They are trying to ban everything that might encourage people to go out into the streets. Paata Manjgaladze even joked that they should ban the sun because more people will come out to protest when it’s sunny outside.
**Criticism of Mikheil Saakashvili**
The government is also using its power to criticize former president Mikheil Saakashvili. They have given him a 12-year and 6-month prison sentence. Paata Manjgaladze says that this is just another attempt by the government to distract people from their own failures.
