**Malvern Twinned with Ukrainian City**
A new partnership has been formed between Malvern and a city in Ukraine. This week, the first community event will take place.
About 400 people from Ukraine are living in Malvern. Many of them came from Korosten, which is still at war. The twinning agreement was signed in January by Malvern Town Council and Korosten City Council.
**A Personal Story**
One Ukrainian refugee, Olha Kraievska, started the idea for this partnership. She fled to Malvern with her family in 2022. Her father died last year, but she has dedicated this project to his memory.
**Community Event**
On Saturday, an open day will take place in Malvern. There will be entertainment, information, and refreshments. Unfortunately, the event is already full. But more activities are planned for the future.
**Helping Each Other**
The people from Ukraine and Malvern want to help each other. They can learn from each other in areas like economy, tourism, and education. The Ukrainian community is interested in learning about democracy in Malvern’s local authorities.
**Support Needed**
Many people have left Ukraine and need support. The council and local organizations are helping them. There are plans to provide mental health support as well.
