New American Diplomacy: A Threat to Republika Srpska President?
The United States government has taken a stand against Republika Srpska President Milorad Dodik. Daniel Serwer, a former American diplomat and professor at Johns Hopkins University, spoke with N1 about the situation.
Serwer says the new administration in Washington wants to see Dodik behind bars. He believes this is because of Dodik’s actions that go against US values. The US government sees these actions as a threat to stability in the region.
Serwer also discussed the situation in Serbia. He compared the regime of Aleksandar Vucic to that of Slobodan Milosevic, saying they are similar in some ways. Both have pushed for their own power and interests at the expense of others.
Because Serwer is not welcome in Belgrade, he says it would not be safe for him to visit Serbia. He feels this way because his opinions are not supported by the government there.
