Serbian President Warns Against Violence
Serbia’s president, Aleksandar Vucic, asked all political groups to avoid using violence. He made this plea in a video message on Instagram.
Vucic warned parties that are trying to return to power not to use student protests as an excuse for violence. He also told them not to attack the country’s institutions again. This is a reference to recent attacks on two public broadcasters, RTS and RTV, in Belgrade and Novi Sad.
The president accused protesters of attacking police officers at RTS with brutality. However, videos show that it was actually the police who charged at the students, using batons and injuring one officer who was not in uniform.
