**EU Nations Back Plan to Rebuild Gaza**
Leading EU nations, including France, Germany, Italy, and Britain, have backed a plan to rebuild and redevelop the Gaza Strip. The plan was drafted by Egypt and endorsed by Arab countries.
The plan would cost $53 billion and take five years to complete. It aims to improve the living conditions of the people in Gaza and avoid the displacement of Palestinians from their territory.
**Israel and US Reject Plan**
However, Israel and US President Donald Trump have rejected the plan. Trump presented his own vision for the Gaza Strip, calling it a “Middle East Riviera”.

On Saturday, the foreign ministers from France, Germany, Italy, and Britain welcomed the proposal as “realistic”. They said that it promised a “rapid and sustainable improvement” of the living conditions in Gaza.
**Plan Details**
The plan calls for Gaza’s temporary administration to be overseen by a panel of independent experts. International peacekeepers would also be deployed in the territory. The committee would oversee humanitarian aid and manage Gaza’s affairs temporarily under Palestinian Authority supervision.
**Reactions from Palestine and Israel**
The Palestinian Authority and Hamas welcomed the proposal after it was presented to them by Egypt. However, the White House and Israeli Foreign Ministry said that the plan failed to address reality in Gaza.
**Growing Concerns Over Truce Deal**
The proposal was drafted amid growing concerns that Gaza’s fragile truce deal could collapse once the six-week initial phase expired on 1st March. Israel has blocked aid entering the territory to pressure Hamas into accepting a new US offer for a temporary extension to the truce.
