**Ukraine’s Air Force Uses French Jets to Repel Russian Attack**
On March 7, Ukraine’s air force used Mirage 2000 fighter jets provided by France for the first time in a battle against a Russian air attack. This was according to a report from Ukraine’s Air Force.
**Russian Aerial Assault**
Russia launched a large-scale aerial assault on Ukraine overnight. They fired 67 missiles and deployed 194 drones. However, Ukraine’s air defenses were able to intercept 34 missiles and 100 drones.
**French Jets Involved**
In addition to other fighter jets, the Mirage 2000s were also used in the battle. These jets are a type of fourth-generation supersonic fighter that was first introduced by Dassault Aviation in the 1970s.
**French Aid Package**
The Mirage 2000s were part of a military aid package announced by French President Emmanuel Macron in June 2024. The package included pilot training and was aimed at strengthening Ukraine’s air defense capabilities against ongoing Russian attacks.
