Ukraine and US Delegations to Meet Next Week

President Volodymyr Zelensky has announced that Ukraine and the United States delegations will resume work and meet next week. This comes after a heated Oval Office exchange between Zelensky, former President Donald Trump, and Vice President JD Vance on February 28.

Tensions had been rising between Kyiv and Washington, with Trump freezing all military aid and intelligence sharing with Ukraine. An agreement on Ukraine’s mineral resources remained stalled as Trump sought a “bigger, better deal.”

However, Zelensky has expressed hope for a “meaningful” dialogue with US officials. He said that Ukraine is not only ready to take the necessary steps for peace but also proposes what those steps are.

Senior White House correspondent Jacqui Heinrich reported on X that the talks will involve Andriy Yermak, Zelensky’s chief of staff, and a US delegation reportedly led by Steve Witkoff, Trump’s envoy to the Middle East. The meeting is set for March 12, according to Axios.

The announcement follows rising tensions between Ukraine and the US after the heated Oval Office exchange. However, Zelensky has reaffirmed his willingness to work towards peace under Trump’s leadership.
