Protest Against Waste Problems in Topola
In the town of Topola, opposition councilors took a strong stand against the town’s waste disposal problems. They brought sacks of garbage into the municipal assembly and threw them on the floor in front of the speaker’s desk.
The opposition councilors said they were protesting the fact that these problems have been going on for years without being solved. But after making their point, they cleaned up the mess they made.
There was a big police presence at the municipal building during this protest.
Opposition Councilors Boycott Session in Arandjelovac
In another town called Arandjelovac, opposition councilors were not allowed to have their say. They had filed a motion to dismiss the local mayor, but it was rejected and they didn’t get to speak about it.
So, they walked out of the session. The opposition councilors claimed that the speaker had failed to put their motion on the agenda, which meant they couldn’t discuss it.
Journalists Were Not Allowed In
When a team from N1 tried to cover this session, they were not allowed in. Local officials said it was because there were technical problems, but it’s unclear what these problems actually were.
