New Rules for Social Media Needed
A member of parliament, Sozar Subari, says social media has too much power. He wants new rules to make sure people are not insulted online.
Subari spoke in a meeting where lawmakers were discussing changes to the “Law on Broadcasting.” This law is about how media should report news.
Subari said that because so many people use social media, it can be more powerful than TV and radio. He thinks new rules are needed to protect people’s feelings and make sure insults are punished.
The ruling party in Georgia wants to change the broadcasting law too. They want to make sure journalists report the truth and stick to certain standards.
