**Serbia Gets 30-Day Reprieve on US Sanctions**
The Serbian Oil Industry (NIS) has been given an extra month before it faces US Treasury sanctions. NIS is owned by Russia’s Gazprom group.
The US imposed sanctions on Russian energy companies earlier this year. These included NIS, which is majority-owned by Gazprom. However, a subsidiary of Gazprom Neft recently transferred some shares to Gazprom itself.
Now, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic has announced that NIS will have 30 more days before the sanctions kick in. This news comes as a relief for Serbia’s citizens, according to President Vucic.
The extra time was mentioned on President Vucic’s Instagram account, where he shared an image of what appears to be a US Treasury document.
