New Laws Proposed for Georgia
The government of Georgia is proposing new laws that will make it a crime to not follow rules about registering foreign agents. These rules are similar to those in the United States.
According to the proposed changes, people who don’t follow these rules or do them wrong could get a fine or be in prison for up to five years. The exact amount of the fine has not been decided yet.
The government says that making it a crime to not follow these rules will help make sure everyone follows them. They also say that they are changing some parts of the law to fit Georgia’s situation, because some parts were written with the US in mind.
These new laws are similar to existing US laws and include references to US government bodies. But the person who is proposing the change says that these will be changed to fit what is real for Georgia.
The proposed law has been sent to a committee for review.
