**Trump Claims US Spent $350 Billion on Ukraine Aid, Wants It Back**
US President Donald Trump claimed that the US spent $350 billion in aid to Ukraine. He also said he wants this money back.
However, facts show that this claim is not true. According to the Kiel Institute for the World Economy, the US has provided assistance worth $119.8 billion since Russia’s full-scale invasion in 2022. Only around $4 billion needs to be repaid by Ukraine, and this repayment deadline is as late as 2065.
**The Claim vs The Facts**
Trump claimed that the US spent $350 billion on aid for Ukraine. However, media reports and President Volodymyr Zelensky say that Ukraine would contribute $500 billion from its budget revenues to a joint investment fund. But these figures are not factual and were presented by the White House without explanation.
The US has actually provided assistance worth $119.8 billion since Russia’s full-scale invasion in 2022, with only around $4 billion needing to be repaid. This includes $67 billion in military aid, $49 billion in financial aid, and $3.6 billion in humanitarian aid.
**What Ukraine Has to Repay**
Zelensky said that US aid given to Ukraine cannot be counted as debt since it was disbursed in the form of grants. Ukrainian lawyers agree with this statement, saying that all military assistance provided by the US is in the form of grants and does not have to be repaid.
Only a small share of financial assistance has been provided in the form of loans. The $4 billion in loans must be repaid in 2065 but can be written off before January 1, 2026.
