Russia Accepts Apology from Serbian President
Russian officials have accepted an apology from Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic. He had apologized for Serbia’s vote in favor of a UN resolution on Ukraine.
A Kremlin official said that the vote was a “technical mistake”. This means that it was not intentional, but rather an accident.
The United Nations General Assembly adopted a resolution on Monday. It confirmed Ukraine’s territorial integrity, which is three years after Russia invaded the country.
Serbia voted in favor of the resolution by mistake. President Vucic later said this was wrong and apologized to his people.
Russia Understands Mistake
A Kremlin spokesperson said that Russia understands that the vote was a genuine mistake. He noted that “technical mistakes do happen”.
The official also appreciated President Vucic’s prompt response to the situation. This means that he acted quickly to apologize for Serbia’s mistake.
Russia’s news agency, TASS, reported on the resolution and Serbia’s vote in favor of it. They said that the UN resolution ignored the root causes of the conflict between Russia and Ukraine.
