In January, there were more deaths in Serbia than births.

**More Deaths Than Births in Serbia**

The Republic Statistics Office (RZS) has released numbers for January 2025. There were 4,978 births and 9,535 deaths.

**Fewer Babies Born**

Compared to last year, there were fewer babies born in Serbia. The number of births went down by 6.3% from 5,311 to 4,978. This means 333 fewer babies were born.

**Deaths Also Down**

The number of deaths also decreased, going down by 7.1% from 10,264 to 9,535. That’s 729 fewer people who died in January this year compared to last year.
