US Can End Ukraine War, Says Georgian Speaker
The Speaker of the Parliament of Georgia says only one country can bring lasting peace to Ukraine – the United States. Shalva Papuashvili made this statement to journalists.
He criticized European leaders for promising victory in the war but now seeking a place at the negotiating table. “They are demanding a place at the negotiating table,” he said. “The only country that can end this war so that Ukraine has sustainable peace and appropriate security guarantees is the United States of America.”
Papuashvili believes the Russian-Ukrainian war could have been avoided. He says Georgia learned from its own conflict in 2008 and took steps to prevent a new war in 2022.
“We know very well how such wars begin and we also know how they end,” he said. “We learned this lesson in 2008.”
