**Serbia’s Parliament Speaker Talks about Foreign Funding**
The speaker of the Serbian parliament, Ana Brnabic, said on Sunday that there is no problem with foreign funding as long as it is transparent and its goals are clear. She spoke at a press conference in the parliament.
**Logo Removed from Website**
Brnabic explained that the logo of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) was removed from the parliament’s website because there were no further obligations toward the institution. USAID had helped develop the Serbian Parliament’s website, and Brnabic said a parliamentary group asked to have the logo taken down.
**No Issues with USAID**
Brnabic clarified that she was the founder of an organization called NALED, but never worked for it. She also stressed that there is no problem with foreign funding if it is transparent and its goals are clear. However, she said that a problem arises when the funding is not transparent and recipients do not disclose how much money they received and what it was used for.
**USAID Labeled as “Criminal Organization”**
Some Serbian government officials and pro-government tabloids have called USAID a “criminal organization”. Brnabic responded to this by saying that Serbia and US authorities would determine if any funding was illegal. She also claimed that US authorities had disclosed the amount of money funnelled into Serbia to destabilize President Aleksandar Vucic’s government.
