**Money Transfers from Russia to Georgia Decreased**
In January 2025, money sent from Russia to Georgia dropped by 62.41% compared to the same period last year. The total amount was $25.47 million, according to the National Bank of Georgia.
Despite the big drop, Russia remains one of the top countries sending money to Georgia. One reason for the decrease is that many Russian citizens have left Georgia.
**Remittances Overall**
The total amount of money sent from abroad to Georgia decreased by 8.5% in January compared to last year. It was $242.44 million.
Most of this money came from EU countries, which made up 45.09% of the total remittances. The top five countries sending money to Georgia were:
* USA: $47.31 million (19.52%)
* Italy: $46.16 million (19.04%)
* Russia: $25.46 million (10.5%)
* Israel: $21.31 million (8.79%)
* Germany: $19.35 million (7.98%)
**Money Sent Out of Georgia**
In the same period, Georgians sent $28.3 million abroad, which is 8.4% more than last year.
