Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov spoke about the “3+3 format”. This is a meeting for countries in the South Caucasus region.
Lavrov said that there will always be a place for Georgian representatives at these meetings. He also mentioned that this has been agreed upon from the beginning. At the last meeting, he confirmed to Georgia that the door is open.
According to Lavrov, Georgia’s current government is acting in the best interests of their country. He believes that the “3+3 format” works for all participating countries. In fact, he said it even caused some envy among former US officials. They had tried to promote a different format called “3+1”.
The “3+3 format” includes Russia, Iran, and Turkey, as well as Armenia, Azerbaijan, and Georgia. It is meant for cooperation between the countries of the region. The initiative was started by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
