**Georgian Party Plans to Make Treason a Crime**
The ruling Georgian Dream (GD) party wants to make treason a crime. This was announced by Mamuka Mdinaradze, the leader of the GD’s group in parliament.
Mdinaradze said that the GD will add a clause on treason back into the country’s criminal code. The United National Movement had removed this clause in 2007.
**More Laws Ahead**
The GD also plans to introduce new laws. One of these is called the “media law”. It says that it will be similar to a law used in the US and Britain. This means that some media outlets may have to register as foreign agents.
Other new laws include ones about drugs, grants for foreigners, and juvenile justice. The GD plans to pass all of these laws in parliament over the next few months.
**GD Acts Alone**
The GD is planning to make these changes on its own. This means that there will be no input from other parties or groups. Mdinaradze said that it would take about a month and a half for these new laws to be passed.
