ProGlas Calls for Transitional Government in Serbia
A group of prominent public figures in Serbia has proposed a transitional government as the best way to solve the country’s crisis.
The ProGlas initiative says this type of government is necessary for free and fair elections. They want it to be in place for 3-9 months, with limited powers and a small number of ministers.
ProGlas also wants guarantees that student demands will be met during this time. This includes efficient public prosecutors and unbiased reporting by state-controlled media.
The group calls for the top public prosecutor and the head of the state-controlled TV station to step down. They want new people in these positions, chosen with the widest possible trust and for a limited time.
ProGlas is not looking for power or jobs. They just want systemic changes. The group says they’re ready to talk about their proposal at a round table discussion.
