European Parliament Resolution Meant Nothing, Says Georgian Official
The European Parliament has passed a resolution on Georgia. But according to Levan Makashvili, the Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on European Integration, this document is worthless.
Makashvili said: “For ‘Georgian Dream,’ no document can hold any value if it implies that the choice of the Georgian people is worthless.” He believes the resolution contains lies and disinformation about Georgia and its government.
The European Parliament’s resolutions have been criticized before for containing false information. Makashvili thinks this latest resolution is an attack on individuals who tell the truth, including journalists who expose lies and disinformation.
He also accused opposition parties of rejoicing in attacks on the state. When they criticize achievements like visa liberalization, Makashvili said, they are fighting against their own country and people.
