**Ukraine’s Military Achievements in First Year Under New Commander**
Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi has highlighted key military achievements during his first year in office. In a Facebook post on February 8, he discussed the progress made by Ukraine’s defense forces.
**Long-Range Strikes and Technological Advancements**
Syrskyi said that Ukraine’s defense forces have successfully targeted 377 military sites in Russia over the past year. The longest-range strike was 1,700 kilometers, with more new long-range weapons being prepared for use. The Ukrainian Air Force also destroyed 9,200 air targets, more than doubling the previous year’s total.
**Modernizing the Military**
Ukraine has worked to modernize its military structure by introducing longer training programs and shifting foreign weapons training to Ukraine. This is expected to optimize costs and efficiency. Syrskyi highlighted the transition to NATO standards in training, command, and troop management, reinforcing Ukraine’s strategic alignment with Western military principles.
**Prioritizing Soldier Safety**
Syrskyi emphasized that preserving Ukrainian soldiers’ lives remains a top priority. He said that a comprehensive program has been developed to modernize the army, improve soldier training, and enhance medical care at all stages.
