**Serbia to Collaborate with Slovenia on Nuclear Energy**

Tanjug/ Rade Prelić

Serbia’s Minister of Mining and Energy, Dubravka Djedovic Handanovic, met with the Slovenian Ambassador to Serbia, Damjan Bergant. They talked about working together on nuclear energy.

Slovenia has a nuclear power plant that makes up one-third of their country’s energy needs. The minister said they discussed sharing experiences and Serbian experts visiting Slovenia. Slovenia has been successful with its nuclear program for decades and is thinking about expanding it.

Serbia wants to use nuclear energy to help reduce greenhouse gas emissions in the long term. They ended a ban on building new nuclear plants last year. The minister said that using nuclear power is one option for Serbia’s energy future, and they will study this possibility more in the coming months.

The Slovenian Ambassador said his country is committed to working with Serbia on nuclear energy. He mentioned a science institute that wants to work with Serbia’s Vinca Institute of Nuclear Science.
