**Russia Behind Deadly Blast at Ukrainian Military Office**
A deadly explosion that killed one person and injured eight service members in Rivne, Ukraine was caused by a bomb remotely detonated by Russian operatives. The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) revealed the details of the investigation on February 5.
The bomber, a 21-year-old man from Zhytomyr Oblast, was recruited online by Russian intelligence services. He had been seeking quick money through Telegram channels and was promised payment for carrying out an attack.
**Recurring Attacks on Ukrainian Military**
This is not the first time that military enlistment offices in Ukraine have been targeted. There have been a series of attacks on these centers, including explosions in Rivne and Pavlohrad that injured several service members. A draft officer was also shot dead in Poltava Oblast last month.
Just days after the Rivne attack, another explosion occurred near a military enlistment office in Kamianets-Podilskyi, Khmelnytskyi Oblast. At least one person was killed and four were injured in this incident.
**How the Attack Was Carried Out**
According to the SBU investigation, the bomber arrived at the Rivne office with an improvised explosive device (IED) hidden in a tourist backpack. The device was linked to a mobile phone controlled by Russian operatives, who detonated it remotely as soon as the agent stepped inside.
Ukraine’s Commander-in-Chief, Oleksandr Syrskyi, condemned the attacks and called for a full investigation and prosecution of those responsible.
