**Ukraine’s President Ready to Negotiate with Russia**
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is willing to sit down and talk with Russian President Vladimir Putin. This, even though the two countries are at war. The conversation would only happen if it brings peace to Ukraine.
**US President Urges Truce**
US President Donald Trump has asked Zelensky and Putin to make a deal to end the fighting. He also promised to help them agree on a ceasefire within six months of his term.
**Zelensky’s View**
Zelensky said that ending the “hot stage” of the war is Ukraine’s goal. He believes talking to Russia is already a compromise, as it means putting aside their differences.
**Talking to Putin**
When asked how he felt about meeting with Putin, Zelensky didn’t care much about his personal feelings on the matter. He said that if talking to Putin brings peace and doesn’t cost Ukrainian lives, then they should do it. He also made it clear that he sees Putin as an enemy.
**What Should Happen Next**
Zelensky wants any negotiation process to include Ukraine, the US, the European Union, and Russia. He is not willing to accept occupied Ukrainian lands as Russian territory.
